The challenge

Wood's operation of the Central Area Transmission System (CATS) — one of the UK North Sea's principal gas transmission pipelines and processing terminals — demands exceptional rigour across every dimension of operational safety and integrity. Although CATS had previously operated a digital permit to work system, it had grown increasingly difficult to maintain and lacked the flexibility to support evolving operational requirements. The solution

Elisian was selected to replace the legacy PTW system and broaden the operational assurance capability across CATS in a single deployment. Permit to Work, Handovers & Events, Process Safety Overrides, and Joint Integrity Management were all configured within the Elisian platform, tailored to the specific operational and regulatory requirements of a high-pressure gas transmission environment.
